Professional Background

Mr. Purisima obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law in 2005. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the Ateneo de Manila University Loyola Schools, where he graduated in 2001.

His Juris Doctor thesis entitled “ State Contracts in the International Legal Order: Towards Judicial Restraint and the Affirmation of the Primacy of Arbitration in Dispute Resolution ” was nominated for the Dean’s Award for Best Thesis. He has likewise published several articles in the Ateneo Law Journal , the official legal publication of the Ateneo Law School, to include: “ Arbitral Autonomy Principle in Philippine Jurisprudence” , “Protecting the Symbol Against Symbolic Speech: The Unconstitutionality of the Flag and Heraldic Code” (co-authored) and “The Public Character of Coconut Levy Funds in Republic v. COCOFED”.

Mr. Purisima was Executive Editor of the Ateneo Law Journal and Editor In Chief of The Guidon, the official student newspaper of the Ateneo de Manila University.

Mr. Purisima was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2006. Prior to joining our Firm in 2007, he was a consultant on legal and priority concerns for the Department of National Defense of the Republic of the Philippines from 2005 to 2006.
